Three CBE students created a long-lasting antimicrobial hand cream in an experiential learning course on product and process design in Spring 2020.

香港科技大學(科大)工學院今天(2018年12月4日)宣布，計劃在未來兩至三年內將「體驗式學習」課程訂為必修科，日後每年入讀工學院的800位本科一年級學生，均需修讀「體驗式學習」課程，動手製作工程作品，學習跨學科的工程知識，貼近現實需要。 工學院院長鄭光廷教授說︰「現時市場上日益需要的人才，並不是只懂一個範疇的工程師，而是擁有不同工程學科知識的工程師。我們希望透過『體驗式學習』，讓學生用自己一雙手設計一些創新發明，汲取跨學科的知識，建立解決難題的能力，成為貼近社會需要的人才。即使學生在畢業後長期投身社會不同崗位，也能適應和繼續創新。」 科大工學院正式引入「體驗式學習」課程已六年。現時，每年約有180位本科一年級學生報讀「首年基礎工程設計課程」；另外約有130位本科生在不同教授的指導下，參加本地及海外的工程設計比賽。他們均需親手設計和製作工程作品，例如飛船、小型智能車和水底機械人等。工學院計劃在兩、三年內將「體驗式學習」課程訂為必修科，日後每年入讀工學院的800位一年級學生，必需修讀「體驗式學習」課程，從而學習跨學科的工程知識，獲取實戰經驗。 為配合「體驗式學習」，工學院特別為學生提供了每天24小時開放的「學生主導體驗式學習實驗室」。該實驗室可隨時組裝變身成為設計、製造樣板或作模擬展示等用途的工作室，並設有鐳射切割機、高效3D掃描系統和動態捕捉系統等設備。實驗室由擔當「學生技術顧問」的高年級工程學生全權管理。此外，工學院亦剛剛開設全新的「Dream Team Open Lab」，讓更多學生能製作自己的工程作品，參加比賽。 工學院院長鄭光廷教授補充︰「由學生主導、讓他們動手創造及製作工程作品是全球工程教育的趨勢。科大是一所年輕的大學，我們在教學方面勇於創新。工學院於本科生教育中的『體驗式學習』投放大量資源和人才，繼續確立科大工學院在工程教育創新的領導地位。」

On 30 & 31 May 2018, 31 Sports Leaders from 15 sports joined the Sports Leader Training Camp jointly organized by the Sports Association, HKUSTSU and Student Affairs Office.

The 57th USFHK Annual Athletic Meet organized by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong (USFHK) was held on Sunday, 11 th March 2018 at Joint Sport Centre, Kowloon Tong.

Miss WONG Man Yi Rachel (Year 3, Division of Life Science) is an elite athlete in Acrobatic Gymnastics. She represented Hong Kong in?Level 6 Mixed Pair Category? at the Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships 2017. The competition was taken place from 22 to26 Nov 2017 in Jiangsu which attracted all top acrobatic gymnasts from China to compete with each other.

Nearly 50 new students of T&M-DDP survived and felt accomplished in the survival camp held on 8-10 September 2017 at Sai Wan, Sai Kung, by completing various leadership training tasks in the wilderness.

The second World Elite University Football Tournament was taken place from 23 June to 3 July 2017 at Tsinghua   University, Beijing. Twelve world-class Universities from Germany, Canada, the United States, Netherlands, the United     Kingdom, China, Hong Kong and Australia competed and mingled together during the Tournament.  

Every summer, Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management (T&M-DDP) holds leadership training camp for all new students to unleash and polish their leadership potential. This year in August, over 50 new Year 1 and Year 2 T&M-DDP students admitted respectively from program-based and school-based admissions joined the leadership training camp at Sai Wan, Sai Kung.
