Supported by Sustainability Unit, Campus Services Office and Facilities Management Office, the student initiated Take-away Box Circular Program that grabbed multiple media?s attention successfully launched last month and engaged more than 400 students and staff to get involved.

八所教資會資助大學將於本月12日聯合發起「八大走飲管」環保運動，以減少使用即棄塑膠飲管。 此運動標誌著香港城市大學、香港浸會大學、嶺南大學、香港中文大學、香港教育大學、香港理工大學、香港科技大學及香港大學共同努力減少塑膠廢物。 八所大學將會分別於3月12至16日期間，在校內舉辦「無飲管週」或「無飲管日」，屆時校園內的食肆只會在要求下才提供飲管。其他活動包括電影放映會、零廢物市場及派發可循環再用的飲管。 此外，八所大學亦承諾訂立長遠的措施，包括定期舉辦提升環保意識的活動、無飲管日或於校園內全面停止使用塑膠飲管。

香港科技大學（科大）研究人員最近開發了一項突破性融合技術，能顯著提高室內定位的準確度，實現以位置為本的新型智能定位應用軟件，如室內導航、根據位置的個人化推薦系統、人群分析及人流管理等。

香港科技大學一向以研究及學術實力著稱，但鮮為人知的是，科大也致力成為香港最環保的大學之一。在過去一年，矢志成為環保先鋒的科大努力不懈，並取得豐碩成果。 綜觀今年達成的環保里程碑，有多項計劃均由科大社群推動，當中包括完全由學生及職員組成的科大綠色小組，他們推出了環保飯盒計劃，鼓勵校園每一分子購買外賣時自備可再用器皿。計劃反應熱烈，成功節省逾2,500個即棄飯盒。

Prof. Arthur LAU, Co-director of Environmental Management and Technology Program, was invited by MTR Corporation Ltd. to shoot an educational video clip on MTR's water-recycling measures.

Two new recycling programs were launched in the fall semester, Styrofoam and electronic and electrical waste recycling on campus.
