我们赞赏行政长官2017年施政报告中有关政府支持香港高等教育界的立场。施政报告亦反映政府的承诺，采取全面综合的措施提升香港教育界在国际上的竞争力。我们尤其支持政府在研究及发展方面投放资源，在五年内把本地研发总开支相对本地生产总值的比率，倍升至约1.5%。我们亦欢迎设立宿舍发展基金，用以增加大学宿舍宿位数目，解决宿位短缺问题，从而改善学生在香港的学习体验。 我们会积极与政府合作，在高等教育界推行这些新措施，促进香港发展。

Internships are an important part of university life to gain real world working experience as well as discovering and understanding yourself. As Pishun (T&M-DDP) said, "whatever you do, do not restrict yourself by what you study, because the future is full of possibilities."

Little did Sandra Sobanska know when she left her native Poland in 2014 to join HKUST’s Global Business undergraduate program, that within three years she could be part of a team staging anything quite like Hack Horizon. However this unique international - and airborne – hackathon is only the latest stage in the exciting journey Sobanska says she’s been on since her arrival in Hong Kong. 

Recent news covered Chris Ko from the class of 2017 about her vegetarian tea cafe in Tsim Sha Tsui, and how she made good use of every skill she learnt from HKUST’s EVMT program to realize her dream. “When I chose to apply to the Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT) program, I thought I would be learning about a wide range of environmental issues and their solutions,” said Chris. “But what’s more, I discovered what I wanted to do, and the program helped me achieved my goals.” EVMT offers students a unique opportunity to grasp scientific and technological concepts and translate them into practice-based and sustainable business ideas. The intense, cross disciplinary program only admits 15 students every year, making it one of the most competitive degree programs in Hong Kong. “Many people still think that going ‘green’ loses money,” said Chris.

In the past 2016/17 academic year, Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) students joined various competitions and demonstrated their outstanding abilities and potentials of future consultants and engineers.

In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, a growing collection of videos was made to feature the remarkable community at HKUST – past and present. “I wish HKUST's ranking will keep going up, both in Asia and the whole world.” Head Gardener of Facilities Management Office, Mr Andy Lam said.

香港科技大学(科大)与滴滴出行宣布达成合作伙伴关系，双方将在前沿技术研发、人才培养、学术交流、创业项目孵化等领域展开深入合作，优势互补，共同推动智慧交通系统研究和科技成果转化，助力智慧城市建设。 根据协议，科大和滴滴出行将在智慧交通系统前沿技术、创新技术等领域展开研究，包括但不限于机器学习、智慧交通、数据挖掘、运筹学、自然语言处理、计算机视觉、机器人等方向。同时，双方将充分发挥自身科研技术实力，联合申请各类政府研发项目及重大专项，携手进行创新科技成果转化，不断突破创新前沿。 除此之外，科大还将与滴滴在人才培养、学术交流、创业孵化项目上达成合作，共同探索人才培养的新模式与新机制，联合进行课题研究及业界最新前沿动态研讨，助力创新创业。 科大是国际知名的研究型大学，致力于发展尖端科研，在科学和工程学范畴成就辉煌。其专业研发领域涉及人工智能、大数据、信息技术、智慧城市咨询规划等，且汇聚了领域内多位顶级专家。 作为全球领先的一站式出行平台，滴滴出行不仅依靠产品、技术创新显著提高了用户的出行体验，还积极以人工智能、大数据技术支持整体优化交通管理体系，用新技术、新业态来改进传统行业，解决交通拥堵、污染和安全问题。 科大校长陈繁昌教授表示，科大一直致力通过产学研合作促进智慧城市的发展，推动香港发展成为创新及科技枢纽。滴滴在大数据与技术方面的积累已经全球领先，相信与滴滴的合作能助力大数据时代的交通创新科技研究，共同培养全球化的科技创新人才。 滴滴出行CTO张博表示，依托于在城市交通领域累积的丰富经验，滴滴正在支持城市管理者建设一体化、可持续的智慧交通解决方案，并取得了积极的成效。目前滴滴已和武汉、济南、深圳、贵阳等20多个城市展开智慧交通合作，内容涵盖智慧信号灯、智慧诱导屏、智慧公交、智慧代驾热力图、智慧交通运行报告等多个方面，「此次和香港科技大学展开合作也将能提速智慧交通领域的科研发展，为用户提供更加优质的出行服务，为更多城市创造更多价值。」
