In an exclusive interview with Phoenix TV's AlphaTalk program during the World Government Summit in February, P Prof. Nancy IP shared her insights on topics related to scientific research cooperation between HK and the Middle East, AI development, and the innovation strategy of HKUST. 

On an RTHK program, HKUST Council Advisory Group Chairman Dr. Edward LEONG Che-Hung provided an update on the progress of the third medical school in HK, while Provost Prof. GUO Yike shared insights on data science and AI, particularly HKChat developed by HKGAI. 

During interviews at the Two Sessions, P Prof. Nancy IP, who is also an HK deputy to NPC, noted that HKUST is actively building international platforms to connect Chinese Mainland and overseas scientists, and highlighted that HKUST’s new medical school is dedicated to nurturing future‑ready medical professionals and collaborating with Mainland partners to support integration within the GBA.

The "AI for Discovery: From Paradigm Revolution to Industrial Restructuring" academic summit was held at the HKUST Shanghai Center to explore the cutting-edge advancement in AI-enabled scientific research. 

HKUST has named a multi-purpose learning facility as the “Futu Academic Pavilion” in appreciation of a generous donation of HK$30 million from Futu Securities International (HK) Limited (Futu) to support the University's innovation and research development, and the establishment of a new scholarship recognizing outstanding HKUST students. 

A joint research team from HKUST, Huawei, and Sun Yat-sen University has developed the VGGT-Det system, which can accurately locate an object in an indoor environment through a photo, without using expensive sensors.

Innovation Hub@HK displayed a new testing method for Alzheimer's disease, developed by a HKUST team  launched a "4-Stage Neurocare Community Program", providing free blood tests and cognitive assessments for elders aged 60 to 75, and eligible participants can also receive cash coupons. 

The Multifunctional Lunar Operating Robot and Mobile Charging Station, a collaborative project between HKUST and PolyU, has been selected for the Chang'e 8 mission.  

A research team led by Provost Prof. GUO Yike and CBE Assoc. Prof. ZHOU Yuanyuan has developed GrainBot, an AI-enabled toolkit that automatically extracts and quantifies multiple microstructural features from microscopy images.
