香港科技大學（科大）今天推出「可持續發展智慧校園」計劃(計劃)，把校園化身成實驗室，透過實踐創新意念，推展學習，鼓勵以智慧方案解決現實生活中的挑戰。大學將於未來三年投入港幣5000萬元，挑選由科大教職員、學生或校友開發並於校園內應用的項目。這些項目須包含可持續發展、智慧及跨學科等元素。透過結合科大的卓越研究與創新學習模式，大學期望計劃能成為本港社會的創新靈感來源，為香港成為世界級可持續發展之智慧城市作出貢獻。科大校長史維教授表示：「大學是社會的縮影。科大一直致力糅合商業管理、政策，以及科學與技術，以發展成為更具智慧和可持續的校園，並希望籍此協助我們的社會走向更環保、更宜居及以人為本的未來。科大希望透過此計劃，為嶄新意念與方案提供一個試點，這些方案未必是尖端科技，也無須於首次嘗試中成功。但透過將校園變成活生生的實驗室，我們希望能灌輸一種從失敗中學習和自發改變的文化，並將這種文化擴展至整個社會。」計劃首輪九個項目已被選出，當中包括運用面部識別技術提升圖書館用戶體驗、通過視覺藝術裝置促進正向及健康行為，以及利用實時人流監測的大數據平台以加強更有效地作出多方面的規劃等。於過去一周，九個團隊在吳家瑋學術廊舉辦展覽，分享項目細節並聽取意見。科大極智慧城市中心及科大可持續發展部將負責共同推展項目的落實。第二輪計劃現正接受申請，截止日期為至3月22日。

Two groups of students spent the past year building soil. The project not only produced compost for direct use on campus; it also involved the development of a composting method and innovative composter design.

ÿHKUST has proudly phased out sale of plastic bottled water under 1 Litre on campus from 22 March 2018.

These are some of the creative moves our fellow cabinets have made to support Green Promotion. Big events like Promotion period and graduation ceremony are also some peaks that create huge amount of waste like leaflets that are merely read through, decoration materials.

The 2017-2018 HKUST Intramural Athletics Meet was held successfully through the co-operation of event organizers (Sports Association and Students? Track and Field Club, HKUSTSU), 6 sports advisors from Student Affairs Office as chief officials, over 60 UG student volunteers.

Our HKUST Library has been spending great effort in promoting sustainability through their operations.

In HKUST, we have installed more than 150 water fountains around campus that provide clean and safe drinking water.

From the activity briefing that launched the Promotion Period, through preparation, and finally to the dismantling and recycling of booths and decorations, Green Reps have taken an important role to organize the activities in a sustainable manner.
