Prof. Philip CHAN Ching-Ho joined the School of Engineering in 1991 as a founding member. He served as Head of the School of Engineering’s Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department from 1995-2002 and Dean of the School from 2003-09. He was Director of the Nanosystem Fabrication Facility from 1997-2003. From 2010-20, he held the positions of Deputy President and Provost at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He became Professor Emeritus in HKUST’s Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering in 2010.

2020 年初第一波新冠疫情爆發時,胡錦添教授與他帶領的香港科技大學(科大)機械人競賽團隊學生果敢地決定繼續他們的工作。他們謹守防疫限制和規定,把團隊細分成幾個小組,全天24小時輪流在實驗室工作。當「全港大專生機械人大賽2020」(Robocon 2020)由6月延期至9月舉行時,團隊成員已早著先機,比其他在疫情高峰時暫停備戰的隊伍走前了整整五個月。最終科大機械人競賽團隊先於香港賽事摘下冠軍,再在 ABU Robocon Festival 2020 中獲亞太區亞軍,又一次展現了他們堅毅不屈、勇往直前的團隊精神。

For former NASA researcher Prof. Su Hui, Civil and Environmental Engineering, a major goal of atmospheric scientists is to improve predictive accuracy and reduce uncertainty in weather and climate forecasting to enable wider society to better plan for climate change. Satellite data can be highly valuable in this endeavor.
