The School of Business and Management at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) has named a classroom after the late Kellogg Dean Emeritus Donald P. Jacobs in honor of his tremendous contributions to the renowned Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA (KH EMBA) Program. As one of the founders of the KH EMBA Program and also founder of the Kellogg EMBA Global Network, Prof Donald Jacobs was Dean of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management from 1975 until 2001. Under his leadership, Kellogg partnered with HKUST to launch the first joint EMBA in Asia in 1998, and the Program rapidly ascended to become the No.1 EMBA program in the world. The named classroom manifests the vision of Dean Jacobs and the long-standing partnership between HKUST and Kellogg.

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government, The Honorable Mrs Carrie Lam, together with other prominent leaders, offered insights into the role of leadership at a management conference organized by the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA (KH EMBA) Program today. Mrs Carrie Lam was the Guest of Honor at the event. Other members who officiated at the conference included Mr Andrew Liao, HKUST Council Chairman; Prof Wei Shyy, Acting President of HKUST; Prof Kar Yan Tam, Dean of HKUST Business School; and Prof Sally Blount, Dean of Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

The technology of 3D printing is at the tipping point to become an integral part of modern industrial manufacturing processes, as well as end-user products. 2018 Winter International Technology & Management Business Plan Competition was held at Bayreuth of Germany from 3 to 12 January for 48 students from 4 universities from 4 continents to learn about the latest development of 3D printing.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held an opening ceremony for the Fok Ying Tung Research Institute Building at the Nansha IT Park in Guangzhou today. Agreements on setting up the National Supercomputer Center in Nansha and on education, research and industry collaboration projects were signed at the ceremony with a view to fostering science and research collaboration as well as knowledge transfer between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

 UNESCO collaboration Under this significant collaboration, the innovative system will be introduced in Cuba later this year, together with local Cuban partners, as part of a three-year water-saving project funded by the European Union and UNESCO-IHE. Measures being piloted in the capital city of Havana cover seawater supply, wastewater reuse, and the SANI process.  SANI stands for Sulphate Reduction, Autotrophic Denitrification and Nitrification Integrated Process, an energy-efficient and low-carbon sewage treatment technology, developed by Prof Guanghao Chen, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and his research team and utilizing Hong Kong’s unique seawater toilet flushing system.

Technology and business leaders from 10 major economies will share their experiences in promoting technology-driven growth at an international symposium to be held in Hong Kong next week.The symposium, entitled “Economic Development through Commercialization of Science and Technology”, is jointly organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. The 4-day event will begin on 19 March 2002 (Tuesday).The symposium will hear models and experiences from Silicon Valley, India’s hitech region of Bangalore, the UK’s Cambridge Science Park, as well as those of the Chinese Mainland, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Sweden, Israel, and Canada. Presentations will also be made on Hong Kong’s own technology initiatives, including the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, and the Nansha IT Park in Guangdong, of which HKUST is a development partner.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) School of Engineering and the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) School of Engineering & Applied Science have announced a plan for closer collaboration and coordination in their executive technology management programs.Representatives of the two schools signed a Statement of Strategic Alliance at HKUST today (27 February), which paves the way for more student and faculty exchanges. Students from each school will have the opportunity to visit the other school and take courses for credit, providing them with a global perspective and access to a wider range of world quality faculty.
