Environmental Science, Policy and Management (ESPM) Students Won the IPO Best Research Award 2015/16
Students of the MPhil/PhD program in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (ESPM) won the Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO) Best Research Award 2015/16 which recognizes the outstanding achievements of research students and fosters the overall quality of research education in the University. The award presentation was held on 9 May 2016 to present the prizes.

HKUST Dean of Science Prof Nancy Ip Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Prof Nancy Ip, Dean of Science, The Morningside Professor of Life Science and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as a Foreign Honorary Member.

HKUST Physicist Prof Gyu Boong Jo Wins Croucher Innovation Award 2016
Prof Gyu Boong Jo, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), was honored with the prestigious Croucher Innovation Award 2016 by the Croucher Foundation for his distinguished scientific research achievements. The award carries a value of HK$5 million over a span of five years. Prof Rosie Young, GBS, JP, officiated at the award presentation ceremony yesterday.

HKUST Management Prof Jiatao Li Named Fellow by Academy of International Business
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) is pleased to announce that Prof Jiatao Li, Senior Associate Dean of the School and Lee Quo Wei Professor of Business, has been elected Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB).Prof Li has made extensive contributions to the field of international business strategy, particularly in Asia. His work focuses on three areas: international expansion and performance; multinational corporate strategy and governance; and joint ventures, top management teams, and knowledge transfer in China. He has 87 publications and his research has been published in premier management and international business journals, several of which have won best paper awards.

RMBI Student was awarded the "Sai Kung District Outstanding Youth"
Simon Cheung, RMBI Student, was awarded the "Sai Kung District Outstanding Youth" which commends young people with outstanding personal achievement and contributions to society. Simon wants to encourage the youngsters to join him to volunteer for the betterment of Hong Kong. "Doing something good for the world will bring you long lasting happiness which good grades cannot offer you."

HKUST Presents Long Service Awards 2016
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its annual Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony to honor faculty and staff members who have served the University for 20 years. HKUST established the Long Service Award to express appreciation and recognition to long-serving faculty and staff members whose dedication and hard work have contributed to the University’s rapid rise over the past 25 years. This year, HKUST presented awards to 89 colleagues with 20 years of service at the University. HKUST President Prof Tony F Chan, together with the vice-presidents, deans, heads and directors of departments and offices joined the presentation ceremony. The awardees’ families and friends were also invited by the University to attend the event and share the happiness at the celebration.

HKUST Business Students Win Multiple Professional Institute Competitions
The undergraduate programs at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) have earned a reputation for winning top prizes in local business competitions. Several teams have been successful in major professional institute competitions organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA), and the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK).

HKUST Professor Wins UGC Teaching Award 2015
Prof Kam-Tim Woo, Associate Professor of Engineering Education of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), received the 2015 University Grants Committee (UGC) Teaching Award today in recognition of his outstanding teaching performance and achievements.HKUST President Prof Tony F Chan congratulated Prof Woo on winning the award, ‘HKUST strives to achieve education and research excellence and we have many innovative and dedicated faculty members.  It is very encouraging that our faculty member has been honored with the Award.  It is an evidence of the University’s commitment in enhancing teaching and learning I am glad that Prof Woo has won the Award.’
